Yoga (yoked)
Have you considered adding yoga to part of your wellness routine but you aren’t sure what yoga is and what yoga offers the body Yoga is simply a practice of breathing deeply while moving the body through as series of postures. Each posture allows the mind to focus on smaller muscle movements, and the attention to breathe lets the mind relax muscles into poses. I teach alignment based yoga which is designed to develop strength, enhance biomechanics and extend range of motion.
Anyone can practice yoga. You are never too old, too young, too tight, to broken, to uncoordinated to start yoga. In fact we all start the same place and the practice grows with us as we address our bodies needs. My experience (working with injury and variety of body types) allows me to guide group classes, workshops and private classes focusing on each individual’s unique limitations.
I offer alignment based, traditional yoga. What does that mean? Within every yoga pose both strength and surrender are present. students are encouraged to find the strength in each posture by cultivating traditional muscular alignment. This way the proper muscles are firing to provide optimal support to the entire body. Finding strength in each pose allows students to surrender deeper into the areas of the body that are actively stretching. Practicing yoga from such a stable platform matches strength to flexibility, thus keeping the student’s body at minimal risk of injury.

We all come to our mat for different reasons so here’s my story. I was overwhelmed as a young mom and after the birth of my daughter (followed shortly by a miscarriage) I was a wreak. I came to my mat shattered, grieving and guarding a withering heart. Through yoga I connected to my mind and body in a new way finding spiritual and mental discipline I had been lacking in my faith. I already prayed and meditated often but asana transformed into a moving meditation were I learned to shed unwanted thoughts and intentionally fill my mind with positive messages. Though a regular practice I found healing and I learned to honor who I am designed to be while opening my heart once again.
I love to teach yoga because it lets me play a tiny part in extending to others the hope, healing, resilience and freedom I found. Whatever your circumstances and whatever drives you to your mat while we practice together I hope you find a space of stillness. Together we can learn to speak to ourselves with kindness, honoring our self-worth and celebrating our progress. May we fill up together with love, peace, joy, gratitude and a dose of playfulness. I completed Hilltop Yoga’s Teacher Training in both RYT 200 and RYT 500. The yoga I offer is alignment based designed to develop strength, enhance biomechanics and extend range of motion.
